World Rally Championship in Passau and the Bavarian Forest

|

Now it's official: The World Rally Championship is coming to the region next year. This afternoon, the FIA published the calendar for 2023.

And besides the rally meccas like Monte Carlo, Mexico or Finland, Passau and the Bavarian Forest are there for the first time. The ADAC had applied for a WRC round with the partner clubs in Austria and the Czech Republic and a three-country concept. The Central European Rally, as it is officially called, starts on 26 October in Prague and ends with the finish at Passau's town hall square on 29 October. On the Bavarian side, the rally will be held on routes in the districts of Freyung-Grafenau and Passau, which have proven themselves in the ADAC 3 Städte Rallye. The headquarters will be at the exhibition grounds in Kohlbruck.

ADAC sports president Dr. Gerd Ennser and chairman of ADAC Südbayern emphasises that the joint staging by the three participating countries is an important sign of international understanding and is pleased that the proven routes in Lower Bavaria will be part of this international event. The World Rally Championship will be broadcast live in 150 countries and the ADAC as the main organiser expects eighty to one hundred thousand visitors.

Further information and press contacts for the Central European Rally can be found here: media.adac-motorsport.de/index.php

The ADAC 3 Städte Rallye will therefore not take place in 2023 - it will make way for an international sporting event.
