Accessibility and Inclusion in Motorsport

Sustainability in motorsport goes far beyond environmental protection. It also stands for accessibility, inclusion and positive experiences for everyone — fans, teams and the communities in the region.

The ADAC 3 Städte Rallye is committed to making motorsport open and accessible to all. Together with the FIA Disability and Accessibility Commission, we continuously work to improve accessibility across spectator areas, event locations and communication channels. This includes accessible viewing zones, easy-to-understand information and a respectful, inclusive event environment.

A strong sign of this commitment is international recognition: ADAC Südbayern received the FIA Award 2025 in the category Invitation – Empowering Disabled Motorsport. This honour recognises innovative projects that promote participation and inclusion in motorsport and underlines the ambition to remove barriers in a sustainable way.

“Sustainability in motorsport goes beyond environmental measures — it also means creating accessible, inclusive and positive experiences for fans, teams and local communities. The ADAC 3 Städte Rallye takes this responsibility seriously, and I am proud to support this approach.”

— Fritz Schadeck, Head of Sport and Touring, ADAC Südbayern e.V.

Sustainability at the ADAC 3 Städte Rallye

Sustainability is an integral part of the ADAC 3 Städte Rallye. Our ambition is to deliver exciting motorsport while keeping our environmental footprint as small as possible and maintaining a strong focus on social responsibility. For us, sustainable action begins in the planning phase and continues throughout the entire event delivery.

Our sustainability strategy combines environmental awareness, regional responsibility and lived inclusion. From resource-efficient concepts and sustainable mobility to accessible experiences for fans and competitors, we take a holistic and forward-looking approach to motorsport.

Below, we highlight the key areas in which we actively shape sustainability at the ADAC 3 Städte Rallye.

Spectators

We also focus on sustainable solutions for our fans, creating a rally experience that is both environmentally responsible and comfortable:

  • Smart visitor management: Targeted traffic and visitor guidance, along with optional transfer solutions between parking areas and spectator zones, help reduce congestion and emissions along the stages.
  • Sustainable catering: Many food outlets use compostable tableware and environmentally friendly packaging to minimise single-use plastics.
  • Digital information: Spectator information such as schedules, maps and safety updates is increasingly provided digitally — reducing paper use while ensuring up-to-date communication.

Competitors

Our competitors play a key role in advancing sustainability in rallying. Together, we promote measures that reduce environmental impact while supporting future developments:

  • Responsible fuel use: Efficient vehicle concepts, modern engine technology and conscious resource management help reduce emissions in competition. At the same time, we monitor and support the development of sustainable fuel solutions in motorsport.
  • Technological progress: Innovations in rallying — from more efficient powertrains to new mobility concepts — contribute to a more sustainable future for the sport.
  • Environmentally managed service areas: Designated washing and service zones ensure that water, cleaning agents and fluids are properly collected and disposed of.

Organisation

Sustainability is also embedded in how the ADAC 3 Städte Rallye is organised. We focus on efficient, digital and resource-conscious processes throughout the entire planning and delivery of the event:

  • Digital collaboration: A large share of coordination and planning meetings takes place online, reducing travel requirements and the associated emissions.
  • Paper-light operations: From regulations and participant information to internal planning, we consistently rely on digital solutions to significantly reduce paper consumption and resource use.
  • Digital volunteer and officials systems: For the planning, coordination and reimbursement of marshals and volunteers, we use dedicated paperless systems developed specifically for the event. This reduces administrative effort, saves resources and enables more efficient processes.

Waste and Resources

Responsible resource management is a key element of the ADAC 3 Cities Rally. Through targeted measures, we aim to reduce waste and promote more sustainable material cycles:

  • Structured waste management: Clear waste separation concepts are implemented across spectator areas, service zones and event locations, while participants, volunteers and guests are encouraged to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour.
  • Reuse of materials: Wherever possible, we rely on reusable solutions — from infrastructure components to event equipment — to conserve resources and reduce waste.
  • Sustainable event materials: We increasingly use recycled or resource-efficient materials for participant documents and event-related materials.

Regional and Social Impact

The ADAC 3 Cities Rally sees sustainability as a social responsibility as well. Strong regional ties and genuine inclusion are integral parts of the event:

  • Inclusion and accessibility: We aim to make the rally experience accessible to people with special needs, including barrier-reduced spectator areas and targeted invitations for social institutions.
  • Socially responsible awards: Selected trophies and event elements are created in cooperation with social organisations and workshops, combining motorsport with meaningful social engagement.
  • Strong regional partnerships: We intentionally collaborate with regional partners, service providers and organisations. This strengthens local structures, reduces travel distances and creates sustainable value within the region.

Our Commitment

The ADAC 3 Städte Rallye aims to be a driving force for sustainable motorsport. Our goal is to continuously evolve both the event and its organisation — with measures that reduce environmental impact while promoting accessibility and social inclusion. Sustainability is reflected across many areas, from responsible mobility and energy concepts to close collaboration with the people and communities along the rally route.
